Sergio Veglio

Biography

Sergio Veglio (b. 1958) is a figurative painter who lives and works in Turin, Northern Italy.

His works are rich in color and charged with the symbols that are characterizing the new pop art of the 21st century, yet always in line with
his “academic” painting (definded as such by famous art critic professor Sgarbi) herefore moving fluidly between hyperrealism and pop art.

A graduate of the Scuola di Arti Grafiche in Turin, Veglio developed a meticulous, detail-driven style influenced by American cinema and visual culture—particularly the way film captures mood, isolation, and narrative through light and framing.

His realistic paintings often depict quiet scenes, solitary figures, and suspended moments, rendered with exceptional precision and emotional depth. In parallel, he explores a pop-inspired visual language, characterized by bold color palettes, stylized forms, and irony. Even in these more playful and graphic compositions, the discipline of his hyperrealist training remains evident: every surface, shadow, and contour is carefully observed and executed with clarity.

Veglio has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in Italy, as an example the 2023 exhibition Una vita in punta di pennello: ostinatamente controcorrente in Alba, curated by Il Busto Mistero.

His work continues to evolve as he draws from cultural imagery and personal experience to build a painterly vision that is both rigorous and emotionally resonant.
